What an unusual mountain lion fetish from Zuni Pueblo carver, Maxx Laate. Zuni Maxx Laate carved this mountain lion from Baltic amber. This mountain lion (cat) has his tail curled around his legs and he is sitting with his legs tucked under his body. This mountain lion's head has a light section that extends across his head and between his ears. His head is turned and he is looking over his left shoulder. He has inlaid turquoise cabochon eyes. This carving is 1 1/8" long
, 1 3/8" tall and 1" thick.
A mountain lion is an animal of leadership and resourcefulness.
Maxx signed the bottom of the base with his hallmark, his first name.
